SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITIES
Montessori Moments in Time™ Memory Care
Our Montessori Moments in Time™ program is the cornerstone of Meridian Senior Living's comprehensive approach to memory care and was developed through extensive research and first-hand experience with our residents throughout the years. We strive every day to integrate purpose and meaningful moments into the lives of our memory care residents through a customized program, honoring our residents and their journey with Alzheimer's or other dementia. Our secure, specialized memory care neighborhood offers spacious private suites. in a home-like setting, with supervised access to amenities, and care by our highly trained and compassionate staff.
Care with Respect
& Dignity
Our memory care program is based on a platform of respect—respect for each individual as people who are important, with significant life stories, talents and preferences.
We provide our memory care residents with a positive and intentional experience at our community. Our Life Engagement programming seeks to reduce agitation and inspire conversation. Understanding resident preferences and past history—their loves, likes, occupations, family members, and more—can help us identify and troubleshoot why a resident may be upset and redirect behaviors to bring moments of joy into social interactions.

It All Starts With
The Resident Life Story
Who our residents are and the lives they’ve led are important elements to providing the best care. Understanding what makes them tick, what causes agitation and what inspires joy is crucial as we build out programming and learn the best way to communicate with one another. Before someone joins our community we ask that families complete a Resident Life Story that shares with our team all the information we need to offer a meaningful experience.

Questions from Long Island families
Plan on somewhere above the New York State average of about $8,640 a month. Downstate rates, which include Nassau and the rest of Long Island, run higher than the state figure, and Nassau County itself averages about $8,875. Our own pricing starts at $10,500 for the most affordable apartment. Our guide to what memory care costs sets out what is bundled into the fee and what tends to be billed separately.
A nursing home provides skilled medical nursing. Memory care is residential care built around dementia, with 24-hour support, a secured setting and a daily program designed for engagement rather than medical treatment. Most people living with dementia do not need skilled nursing, and moving too early can cost someone independence they still have. If your relative does need continuous medical nursing, we will say so plainly.
There is rarely one moment. The signals families notice are wandering or getting lost on familiar routes, night waking that leaves everyone exhausted, medication missed or doubled, meals skipped, and the person doing the caring reaching the end of what they can manage. A planned move is almost always gentler on everyone than one made from a hospital ward.
Yes. Our kitchen is certified by the Vaad HaKashrus and prepared on site rather than brought in, and it is one of the reasons observant families choose Woodmere from across the island. Families who do not keep kosher are equally at home: the menu is simply good food that everyone shares at the same table.
Yes, and it happens more often than people expect, usually when a family realizes their relative needs dementia-specific care rather than general assisted living. Bring the current care plan and medication list, and we will carry out our own assessment before anyone commits, so we can be honest about whether the move would genuinely help.
We sit on the western edge of Nassau, in the Five Towns, within reach of the South Shore, about 12 to 17 minutes, and central Nassau, about 25 to 36 minutes. Whether that is close enough depends less on the miles than on how often you would realistically visit, because with dementia frequent short visits do more good than occasional long ones. There is more, with approximate times by town, on the towns we serve.
