State-of-the-Art Vaad Kosher certified Kitchen Delivers Nutritious Options for Everyone
Dining holds a special place in our hearts. From three chef-inspired meals every day to special events with tailored menus to seasonal celebrations, we never turn down an opportunity to enjoy great food. Our Dining Services Director creates monthly meal plans that are balanced and take into resident nutrition. In addition to daily offerings, an everyday menu is available with classic items that are sure to please.
Esplanade of Woodmere is the memory care community in the area with a Vaad Kosher certified dining program. Not kosher? That is no barrier at all. Many of our residents do not keep kosher and enjoy the food just as much. Our culinary team creates flavorful, thoughtfully prepared meals that everyone can enjoy.

What Vaad Kosher Certified Actually Means
Plenty of communities will tell you they can accommodate kosher. In practice that often means a sealed tray brought in from outside, heated separately, eaten apart from everyone else.
Certification is a different thing. It means the kitchen itself is supervised, that ingredients, preparation and the separation of meat and dairy are handled to standard, and that this holds every day rather than on request. It also means your mother eats the same meal as the person sitting beside her, at the same table, at the same time. For someone living with dementia, not being singled out at mealtimes is worth more than families expect.

Why Mealtimes Matter More in Memory Care
Eating gets harder as dementia progresses, and not only for medical reasons. Appetite fades. A crowded, noisy dining room becomes hard to make sense of. Cutlery stops being obvious. Someone who ate well at home can start losing weight without anyone noticing why.
So our dining room is quieter and simpler than a restaurant, and our team knows that a resident who is not eating is usually telling us something. Sometimes the answer is a different seat, a smaller plate, or a familiar dish from a life story we already know about. Our Snacks that Pack program keeps nutrition and hydration going between meals, three times a day, because for many residents small and frequent works far better than three formal sittings.
Food is also one of the last pleasures to fade. Long after other things have slipped away, a taste someone has known since childhood can bring them back into the room. That is worth building a kitchen around.

FAQs
The kitchen here is Vaad Kosher certified and everything is prepared on site. Nothing is brought in on a tray and reheated. We are the memory care community in the area that operates a certified kitchen of its own.
That is no barrier at all. Many of our residents do not keep kosher and enjoy the food just as much. Everyone eats together and everyone eats the same way.
It is common, and we watch for it. Appetite changes, and a busy dining room can become confusing rather than sociable. Sometimes the fix is a quieter seat or a familiar dish, and our Snacks that Pack program keeps nutrition going between meals. If weight or intake becomes a concern we will raise it with you early rather than late.
